Underdog Global Partners Announces Addition of Distinguished Global CEO and Board Member Bob Wood as General Partner
NEW YORK, NY — Underdog Global Partners (“UGP”), a rising force in the sports ownership, operating and advisory business, today announced that Bob Wood has joined the firm as General Partner. In this role, Mr. Wood will work alongside the firm’s leadership team to evaluate and execute acquisitions, provide strategic guidance to portfolio assets, and contribute to UGP’s mission of elevating performance and unlocking long-term value across the firm’s growing sports and associated real estate and media projects.
Mr. Wood brings more than four decades of exemplary business leadership experience to Underdog Global Partners. He is the former Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chemtura Corporation, a global specialty chemicals company, where he oversaw the firm’s strategic direction and operational performance. Prior to Chemtura, Mr. Wood spent the first three-quarters of his career at The Dow Chemical Company, ultimately serving as Business Group President and a member of the Corporate Operating Board.
Mr. Wood also has an extensive and distinguished career as a public board member. He has served as Lead Director of the Board of Directors of Praxair Corporation, and as a member of the boards of directors of MRC Global and Univar Corporation. Mr. Wood also served on the United States Olympic Committee from 2015-2020. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor and Board Director at McChrystal Group, where he leads engagements and mentors chief executives on leadership and strategic planning, and is presently the Chairman of the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Mr. Wood holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan where he played football under the legendary Coach Bo Schembechler, was a member of the 1976 Big Ten Championship team and has served on his alma mater’s President’s Advisory Board for two terms.
